The California native section includes many flowers, shrubs and trees from southern, central and northern California. The acacia, desert willow and palo verde trees are from California’s deserts. The Santa Cruz Island Ironwood is from the California Channel Islands. This wood will sink in water and can break saws. The CA Hollywood or toyon bushes have red berries in the winter and also gave Hollywood, CA its name.
Look for the CA buckeye from central CA which loses its leaves in the summer. From northern CA we have the world’s tallest tree which is also the CA state tree, the coast redwood. We also have examples of the biggest tree in the world, the giant sequoia redwood
